Property Registration

OVERVIEW:
According to the Codified Ordinances of the Township of Union, all rental properties and all vacant properties in Union Township are required to be registered annually by the owners.  These Ordinances are in place to ensure that every township resident has safe and sanitary housing, to protect the health, safety, and welfare of township residents, to prevent blight, to protect property values, and to avoid the creation and maintenance of nuisance properties.

RENTAL PROPERTIES:
As of May 2013, the Township of Union is requiring all rental properties to be registered.  Please fill out the Rental Property Registration Form for each rented property and return it, along with the fees for each unit, to the Code Department of Union Township.  The fees are as follows:  $75.00 per single unit property.  If you own a multi-unit property, the fees are $75.00 for the first unit plus $25.00 for each additional rental unit that is in that building.  All properties are subject to an inspection.

VACANT PROPERTIES:
The cost for Vacant Property Registration varies each year depending on how many years the residential or other structure has been vacant.  Please see the fee schedule on the registration form.  These requirements are applicable to each owner of any building whether governmental, commercial, residential or institutional or owned by non-profit or a for-profit organization in which the building in total shall have been vacant for more than 45 days.

REGISTRATION IS A TWO STEP PROCESS:
