Property Registration

OVERVIEW:
According to the Codified Ordinances of the Township of Union, all rental properties and all vacant properties in Union Township are required to be registered annually by the owners.  These Ordinances are in place to ensure that every township resident has safe and sanitary housing, to protect the health, safety, and welfare of township residents, to prevent blight, to protect property values, and to avoid the creation and maintenance of nuisance properties.  You still have to register your property even if your property is vacant or being renovated, your tenants are relatives who are 18 or older and not on the deed, or you don’t collect rent on the units.

RENTAL PROPERTIES:
As of May 2013, the Township of Union is requiring all properties that are not owner occupied to be registered.  Please fill out the Rental Property Registration Form for each property and return it, along with the fees for each unit, to the Code Department of Union Township.  The fees are as follows:  $75.00 per single unit property.  If you own a multi-unit property, the fees are $75.00 for the first unit plus $25.00 for each additional rental unit that is in that building.  All properties are subject to an inspection.
